For Educators & Child Care Providers

Created for childcare staff and early childhood educators, this interactive workshop provides an overview of key topics related to supporting communication development in preschool-aged children. We will cover:

• typical communication milestones for the preschool years
• signs of communication delays and differences
• ideas for discussing observations and concerns with parents/caregivers
• how to ‘navigate the system’ of speech-language services in Victoria
• ways to support communication skills in your childcare setting

Participants can expect a research-informed presentation with practical takeaways, opportunities for discussion, and perhaps a few silly songs along the way.

About Tara Casorso

Tara Casorso is a Speech-Language Pathologist (S-LP) with Island Health’s Early Childhood Speech and Language program. She is dedicated to supporting young children aged 0-5 and their families in developing strong communication skills. Tara is passionate about partnering with parents and caregivers, listening to their experiences, and helping them increase their connection with their children. In the clinic, Tara can often be found engaging her young clients through play, songs, and plenty of high-fives. When she’s not at work, Tara enjoys making memories with her husband, 6-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter. She is grateful to live, work and play in the natural beauty of the West Coast.
